Verizon signs optical fiber deal with Corning to expand broadband, support AI growth

On September 8, Verizon announced a multi-billion dollar agreement with Corning, a specialty glass manufacturer, to supply high-density optical fiber for expanding broadband services and supporting AI workloads. This agreement is a continuation of a three-decade long partnership between the two companies. Verizon has not disclosed the financial details of the deal.

Under the terms of the agreement, Corning will provide over 80 million miles of high-density optical fiber and connectivity solutions between 2027 and 2032. This fiber deployment, according to Verizon, will accelerate broadband expansion for homes and businesses, while also strengthening the high-capacity, low-latency infrastructure required by AI hyperscalers.
