US military says it has destroyed 5 Iranian oil tankers after missile attacks on Navy warship

Washington - Iran has launched missile strikes toward U.S. targets in Jordan, according to Iranian state-run media. This follows the latest American strikes, marking a cycle of retaliation after the U.S. military destroyed five Iranian crude oil tankers in response to two attacks by Iran's Revolutionary Guard on a U.S. warship over the past two days.

U.S. Central Command, when questioned about the strikes on the Jordanian airbase, stated they lacked information to provide. The Iranian tankers destroyed in the attack were identified as the Kivik, Charminar, Horizon 1, Riesco in the Gulf of Oman, and Derya, found near Kharg Island in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Central Command.

The crews of the five vessels were instructed to abandon ship prior to the attacks. These incidents occurred just three days after U.S. forces had previously destroyed three Iranian oil tankers after Iran's Revolutionary Guards attempted to target a U.S. aircraft carrier and destroyer. Iranian state television also reported the U.S. strikes, claiming that U.S. forces targeted at least three Iranian oil tankers.
