London-based AI-native platform Veridue has secured €3.44 million ($4 million) in a pre-Seed round to bolster its offering for renewable energy and data centre investments and project financing. The funding round was spearheaded by Episode 1 Ventures, with additional investment from HTGF, Pi Labs, Aurora Energy Research co-founder Cameron Hepburn, and former Quantum Black CEO Jeremy Palmer.
Tim Bertsch, Investment Manager at HTGF, stated that the critical infrastructure Europe requires, such as renewables, data centres, and grid capacity, represents one of the most significant buildouts of recent times. While Europe and the US are witnessing a surge in demand for renewables driven by data centres, electrification, and energy security, capital appetite remains strong. However, the buildout is hindered by slow, expensive, and manual processes.
Veridue, founded in 2024 by former McKinsey energy investment advisor Daniel Csonth and former SCOR data science lead Xander van den Eelaart, has been developed to streamline the complex workflows associated with energy infrastructure dealmaking. The company notes that Europe and the US are experiencing heightened demand for renewables, IPPs are shifting from greenfield development to acquisitions, and investors are evaluating a growing number of assets, many of which are distressed or commercially unviable.
Longer grid connection queues, planning risks, extended lead times, and the emergence of hybrid assets like Solar PV or Wind with BESS are making clean energy dealmaking more intricate. Veridue claims to be specifically designed for energy infrastructure and offers institutional-grade due diligence, surfacing the risks, opportunities, and insights critical to deal teams with a single click.
The startup enables its customers to screen more opportunities, identify the best assets, outpace competitors, secure deals off-market, attract more capital, and achieve better exits or financing terms. Veridue provides AI-driven deal pipeline management, priority deal recommendations based on customized investment criteria, and due diligence, including project maturity analysis, within hours rather than weeks. Customers can expect familiar outputs such as due diligence reports or IRLs upon request.
Combining AI models with a proprietary agent layer and supported by human expertise from in-house energy transaction specialists, Veridue offers a free institutional-grade data room that automatically organizes files and folders, as well as an investment readiness report, a VDD, and a Teaser. CEO and Founder Csonth emphasizes that Veridue serves as a solution to the challenges faced during energy infrastructure dealmaking, providing users with an AI-native platform that manages the entire process in one place, from origination and deal screening to VDR, Q&A, due diligence, and IC memos.
