UAE sends fourth aid flight to Nepal as total delivery reaches 186 tonnes

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has dispatched its fourth humanitarian flight to Nepal, augmenting the total relief supplies airlifted to the country since devastating floods and landslides hit the region. On Tuesday, the latest aircraft touched down in Kathmandu, bearing approximately 38 tonnes of aid, comprising 500 tents and 108 relief packages.

This delivery is part of the UAE's humanitarian air bridge initiated in response to the catastrophe, which has resulted in numerous fatalities and injuries across multiple Nepalese regions. The UAE's humanitarian contribution encompasses food, shelter, and medical provisions, alongside logistical equipment aimed at addressing immediate requirements on the ground.

In addition, the UAE is procuring relief supplies from Nepal's local market to expedite the pace of aid delivery to impacted communities, in coordination with Nepalese authorities to ensure resources are allocated based on priority needs. Dr Mahabir Pun, Nepal's Minister for Science, Technology, and Innovation, commended the UAE's consistent relief efforts, stating that the assistance has benefited a large number of individuals affected by the floods and landslides, and has bolstered broader initiatives to improve conditions in the affected areas.

Meanwhile, a Dubai Police search-and-rescue team remains active in conducting field missions in the disaster-stricken regions, employing specialized equipment and advanced technology for search and assessment operations. This team collaborates closely with Nepalese authorities and emergency response teams. The UAE's response to the Nepal disaster exemplifies its overarching humanitarian policy of providing swift aid to nations affected by natural disasters and crises.
