Iceland’s foreign ministry summoned the U.S. ambassador, Billy Long, after President Donald Trump posted a map depicting Iceland covered in the American flag. The map, shared on Truth Social, labeled the territory as "United States of America," causing offense to Icelanders, Canadians, and Greenlanders. Prime Minister Kristjana Frostadottir expressed her outrage, stating that such a display was an insult to sovereignty and that the administration must understand the gravity of the act.

Iceland stands firmly as an independent state, emphasizing its responsibility for its own future. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen deemed the post "disturbing" and urged the U.S. president to curb his maximalist vision.
