Troops foil terrorists’ ambush, dismantle hideouts in Borno

Troops thwarted a terrorist ambush and dismantled hideouts in Borno State, according to a statement from the operation's acting spokesperson, Mohammed Goni. The ambush occurred on Monday while the troops were on a routine patrol along the Buni Gari–Buratai axis in Biu Local Government Area. Upon encountering the terrorists, the troops promptly responded, forcing them to retreat from the area.

In the aftermath, reinforcements were deployed to clear the ambush site and carry out further operations in the surrounding region. The troops discovered and dismantled multiple makeshift camps that were likely used as temporary staging and hideout locations by the terrorists. Among the items recovered were a motorcycle, bicycles, a magazine, ammunition, and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).

Fortunately, no military personnel were killed or injured during the encounter, although some military vehicles sustained damage. Despite the setback, the troops remained operational and successfully completed their mission.
