Tinubu always listens to Nigerians before taking decisions – Minister Idris

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, indicated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu demonstrates a commitment to actively listening to the citizens of Nigeria before making decisions. During a meeting with a delegation from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Abuja, Idris emphasized that the Ministry of Information and National Orientation serves a dual purpose: communicating government policies and relaying public sentiment back to the administration.

The minister explained that Tinubu consistently begins his discussions with inquiries about the opinions of Nigerians, underscoring the President's dedication to engaging with the populace regarding their thoughts and concerns.

Idris clarified that this approach underscores the dynamic nature of governance, allowing for necessary adjustments as new information becomes available. He further explained that the President does not merely disseminate information or announce policy decisions but actively seeks to understand what Nigerians think. The ministry operates a bidirectional communication system, transmitting government decisions to the public while also collecting their perspectives to inform policy-making.

The National Orientation Agency, with over 800 offices across the country, facilitates this bidirectional flow of information by gathering insights from various segments of society, including farmers and artisans.

The minister assured the NIPSS delegation that the ministry would support their research into the creative economy, a focus of NIPSS's Senior Executive Course 48. The National Orientation Agency's extensive reach into communities enables it to collect views from diverse groups, providing the government with a clearer understanding of citizens' needs and expectations.

Idris also assured the delegation that the ministry would collaborate with NIPSS in organizing and promoting an upcoming National Summit and Exhibition on the Orange Economy, a term used to describe the creative economy. The summit aims to highlight the sector's potential as a significant driver of national development and employment.
