Google has introduced a new "Google Jail" for independent wikis, making it difficult for them to appear in search results, according to recent changes. This issue primarily affects wikis launched on new domains, with only 15% of video game wiki traffic currently coming from Google. Since the problem surfaced, wikis hosted on subdomains of established domains have shown immediate success in getting indexed by Google.
The transition to subdomains has been more successful than moving to a root domain, making hosting wikis on "Weird Gloop" an undesirable option. The team is currently working on improving these wikis' rankings on Google, with plans to redirect them to their proper domain names once they establish a strong presence.
