Thai woman found dead in Samut Prakan rented room after meeting dating-app contact

A woman in her early 40s was discovered deceased inside a rented room in Samut Prakan province on September 7, following an encounter with an individual she had communicated with via a dating application. Rescue teams from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation and officers from Bang Pu Police Station responded to the incident in Phaekasa subdistrict, Mueang district.

The body of the deceased was identified as a 43-year-old woman; however, her name has not yet been released publicly. No visible injuries or indications of violent force were found during an initial medical assessment. A 32-year-old man named Diao was present at the scene when police arrived. He stated that the woman had contacted him through the dating app and later visited him at his rented accommodation.

Diao explained that they did not have a formal romantic relationship and that the woman had informed him she intended to stay for a brief period. He mentioned that she entered his room around 10 PM, carrying two sets of clothing. Diao noted that the woman appeared disoriented and seemingly intoxicated, although there was no discernible smell of alcohol.

He described seeing her enter the bathroom for approximately 10 to 15 minutes before returning, changing her clothes, and consuming several pills - which were packaged in bags resembling hospital medication, but Diao was uncertain about the potential cause of her health condition. Diao observed the woman becoming increasingly weak, attempting to stand and subsequently falling to the ground.

He attempted to awaken her between 2 and 3 AM, as the bed's limited space made it difficult for her to return to sleep. Despite his efforts, the woman did not respond, and Diao concluded that she had passed away. The police have forwarded the woman’s body to a forensic laboratory for a comprehensive autopsy, while the determination of the exact cause of death is still pending.
