‘South Park’ Shares a Cheeky, Trump-Inspired Name Change Ahead of Season 29

The beloved animated series "South Park" from creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will undergo a playful transformation ahead of its upcoming 29th season. The show, set to premiere on Comedy Central on September 16, will adopt the cheeky name "South America" in what Parker and Stone say is an homage to "the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google." This name change aligns with the recent trend of renaming geographical regions like Lake Ontario to "Lake America" and even considering renaming New Mexico to "New America."

Despite the unusual moniker, the show continues to mock Donald Trump, who is portrayed as the main antagonist in Season 28. To celebrate their Emmy win for outstanding animated program, the "South Park" team took a jab at Trump by featuring him with his underwear hanging out and an Emmy statue in his hands. The show's official X account mocked Trump's Emmy chances, noting that the president has never won an Emmy, having been nominated twice for NBC's "The Apprentice" in 2004 and 2005, a show that lost to CBS' "The Amazing Race" both years.

Parker and Stone recently celebrated their Emmy victory by mocking Trump, showcasing their ongoing satire of the former president. The show is set to release new episodes on September 30, October 14, October 28, November 11, and November 25 via Paramount+.
