#SHOWBIZ: Sathiya in high spirits, filming Deepavali telemovie

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran actor and comedian Sathiya, 62, is currently busy filming a Tamil telemovie set to air during Deepavali celebrations. His daughter, Amani Nair Satya, 37, shared that her father is in excellent health and increasingly active, rejoining the acting scene just as usual. Despite ongoing hospital treatment, Sathiya is content to work again, accepting Malay drama offers and participating in Tamil productions every year, especially for Deepavali. He has already completed filming for the animated movie Zan Orang Utan produced by KRU Studios.

Sathiya's health issues began on March 8 when he experienced dizziness, yellowing eyes, and vomiting at home. He underwent surgery on March 9 to amputate his left leg above the knee due to an infection. Following a week of treatment at Ampang Hospital, he was discharged on March 16 and is now required to attend specialist check-ups as per his scheduled appointments.

Amani explained that her father's outer leg appears healthy, but the internal tissue still needs time to heal. He uses a wheelchair and manages daily tasks independently, including showering himself.

The entire family is delighted to see Sathiya in good spirits and health. When at home, he dedicates his rest time to taking care of his grandchildren. For the upcoming Deepavali telemovie, Sathiya is set to appear in a Tamil production, following his successful stint in the animated film. His next step will be a follow-up appointment at Ampang Hospital this October, where a specialist will decide if he can use a prosthetic leg based on an X-ray result.
