Selangor FC fails to stay FAM sanctions

Selangor FC's bid to avoid FAM sanctions, which include playing behind closed doors in the 2026/2027 FA Cup match against Sabah, has been unsuccessful. The Court of Arbitration's emergency sole arbitrator dismissed the club's application yesterday. The sanction for the upcoming game remains in effect. FAM stated that the final decision on Selangor FC's appeal against the sanctions will be made according to the set arbitration process.

Earlier, Selangor FC was fined RM100,000 and ordered to play without spectators for the second leg of the FA Cup semi-final against Sabah on November 30. The club's first home match of the following season was also affected. Two Negeri Sembilan FC supporters sustained injuries during the Oct 29 quarter-final match due to incidents involving firecrackers and benches being thrown at them.

Selangor FC was found guilty of five charges by FAM's disciplinary committee, a decision upheld by the association's appeals committee on November 26. The Red Giants' 3-2 defeat in the match allowed them to secure a place in the semi-finals on an aggregate score of 6-3.
