Saudi foreign minister warns Houthis over escalating tensions

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan has warned the Houthi group over the mounting tensions in the region. He declared that the Kingdom will employ all necessary measures to safeguard its interests and protect itself against any attacks. Bin Farhan emphasized that Saudi Arabia will use every available tool to defend its interests and ensure the well-being of Yemen and the wider region.

He stated that the Houthis have created a situation they cannot manage, as they attempt to spread their internal issues in Yemen to Saudi Arabia.

Bin Farhan noted that the group resorted to violence when faced with challenges and insisted on inflicting more suffering on the Yemeni people instead of participating responsibly in the political process. Despite this, the Saudi foreign minister stressed that the diplomatic route for addressing the Houthi issue remains open. He reaffirmed that the legitimate government of Yemen has extended an invitation to negotiate with the Houthis responsibly, but the group prioritizes its own narrow interests over those of Yemen and its people.
