Sagar Spurious Liquor Tragedy: Banda SDOP Transferred In Major Administrative Reshuffle

Following the tragic Sagar spurious liquor incident that resulted in 22 fatalities and left over 100 individuals hospitalized, the Madhya Pradesh Home Department has implemented a significant administrative reshuffle. Two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) have been reassigned in this major change of postings.

DSP Rohit Lakhare, originally posted at the Police Headquarters in Bhopal, has been transferred and is now serving as SDOP Banda in the Sagar district. Conversely, Pradeep Valmiki, who was previously the SDOP Banda, Sagar, has been reassigned to the Police Headquarters in Bhopal, taking on the role of Deputy Superintendent of Police. Both officers will remain in their new positions temporarily until further notice.

This administrative action is a direct response to the spurious liquor tragedy that occurred in Sagar, which claimed 22 lives and left more than 100 people hospitalized after reportedly consuming toxic liquor. The incident has prompted various government departments to take action, including restrictions on the sale of the 'Sagar Gold' liquor brand.

Panic has gripped the Banda and Sagar districts of Madhya Pradesh, as nine deaths occurred simultaneously, and the health of those affected has deteriorated after consuming the harmful liquor. Police have been actively engaged in the investigation and are preparing for postmortem examinations.
