Sabalenka fights back to keep US Open defence alive

Aryna Sabalenka, a four-time Grand Slam singles champion, fought back from a 4-2 deficit to defeat Linda Noskova in the third set and beyond, advancing to the semi-finals of the US Open. Despite trailing 2-0 in the tie-break, Sabalenka rebounded to clinch the match in under two and a half hours, marking her 19th consecutive victory at the event.

This win also saw her temporarily regain the world number one ranking, though she would relinquish it if world number two Elena Rybakina defeats Zheng Qinwen later in the tournament. Sabalenka will face either Jessica Pegula or Emma Navarro next as she aims for her fourth consecutive US Open final. Known for her emotional outbursts, Sabalenka demonstrated remarkable composure against Wimbledon champion Noskova, who hit more winners, had fewer unforced errors, and saved seven of her nine break points, ending an 11-match winning streak at Grand Slams.
