Sabah belanja lebih RM1 bilion tangani isu bekalan air

Ketua Menteri Sabah, Hajiji Noor, stated that his administration is working to address the long-standing issues of basic amenities such as water, electricity, and roads. The state government has allocated more than RM1 billion this year to tackle the water supply problem across the state. The funds are intended for replacing old pipes in most districts, including those that have been stolen.

One of the major projects, which will be completed by the end of the year, includes the development of 106 two-story stores in Phase 1 and the progress of projects in Tawau is estimated to be 50% to 60%. Additionally, Phase 2 and 3 commercial development and land sales at the Housing and Development Corporation (LPPB) at Jalan Bubul are underway.

Hajiji mentioned that his administration is committed to fostering a business-friendly environment to ensure Sabah's economy continues to grow. A supportive foundation is crucial for investors and outsiders to come to Sabah, as it will lead to a thriving economy and create job opportunities for the people, thereby encouraging development.

He emphasized that Sabah's development is not solely the responsibility of the government; it requires collaboration from all sectors, including the private sector, construction agencies, entrepreneurs, and the public. He also pointed out that development should not be limited to Kota Kinabalu or major cities, but rather every region.

Regarding the launch of the LPPB project today, he emphasized that it should be seen as part of Sabah's development journey, rather than just a single commercial project. Sabah possesses significant natural assets, such as its beautiful islands, but to ensure these assets can be translated into greater economic benefits for the people, comprehensive development is necessary.

He emphasized that the strategically located commercial area along the Balung-Semporna main road has the potential to develop into a new trade and business hub. Its advantage lies in the presence of a river and proximity to the sea, making it suitable for building a jetty. Hajiji mentioned that a well-designed and beautiful jetty can add value while allowing the public to enjoy the scenic river and sea views, relaxation, sunset viewing, and photography.
