S. Korean man kidnapped in Manila released safely: foreign ministry

Seoul's foreign ministry announced on Tuesday that a South Korean man in his 40s, kidnapped in Manila last Friday, has been safely released. The victim was riding in a vehicle with a friend in the Pasay area of Metro Manila when the abductors forcibly took him and fled the scene, leaving his acquaintance behind. Approximately 18 hours after the abduction, the kidnappers reached out to another acquaintance of the victim, demanding a ransom for his release.

The ministry, alerted by their embassy in the Philippines, swiftly formed a task force to coordinate with the National Police Agency, Philippine police, and other local authorities to secure the man's safe return. The motive and specifics of the incident are currently under investigation.
