‘Really hard decision’: Ex-Sens captain Brady Tkachuk reflects on Ottawa exit

Brady Tkachuk, the former captain of the Ottawa Senators, expressed frustration over the team's early exit in the NHL playoffs. The 26-year-old winger spoke candidly about his decision to leave the Senators, stating that it was a "really, really hard decision" that took a lot of time to make. Tkachuk had previously signaled his desire to be traded after the team's defeat by the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the playoffs.

He thanked Senators owner Michael Andlauer and general manager Steve Staios for keeping the news private, which also meant his teammates were unaware of his plans until shortly before the announcement. Tkachuk emphasized that while he has a strong bond with his former teammates, he was "emotionally worn down" by the team's struggles and the constant speculation surrounding his future.

The Senators and their fans will have a chance to see Tkachuk in action once again when the Florida Panthers visit Ottawa on October 21.
