Rayuan lelaki buat amang seksual gagal, hukuman penjara tambah jadi 20 tahun

A 45-year-old man from Klang, Selangor, whose appeal to reduce his 20-year prison sentence for physically abusing his four-year-old daughter was rejected by the Court of Appeal on Friday. The court, presided over by Azman Abdullah, increased his sentence from 10 years to 15 years for the sexual assault, and added an additional 5 years for the crime under Section 16(1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, totaling 20 years.

The appeal was rejected after the man persistently sought to have his sentence reduced. The court warned the public and potential offenders against taking such acts lightly, especially sexual crimes against children. The man was previously sentenced to 12 years and 5 years in 2022, which was upheld by the High Court in November of the same year.

The judge ordered the sentences to be served consecutively, making the total prison time 20 years. The man's lawyer, K.A. Ramu, had argued for a reduction from seven to eight years, but the man insisted on proceeding with the appeal. The man's lawyer advised his client not to continue with the appeal, but the man persisted. Ramu requested the court to shorten his sentence to between seven and eight years.

Defense counsel Solehah Noratikah Ismail described the case as a drop in the ocean and mentioned the man inviting the victim to play with a toy car in his car. She stated that the man's decision to appeal showed he was not remorseful for his actions and appealed to the court using Section 60 to increase his sentence.
