Prosecution gets further extension to serve appeal notice on Yusoff Rawther

The Court of Appeal has extended the deadline for the prosecution to locate and personally serve former research assistant Yusoff Rawther with a notice of appeal against his acquittal on drug trafficking and possession of imitation firearms charges. The extension allows the prosecution up to two months to update the court on their efforts to locate Yusoff and serve the notice.

Yusoff is believed to have left Malaysia in June last year and is currently residing in the UK, where he has sought asylum and will not be returning to Malaysia. The appeal was granted earlier this year, and Yusoff was initially acquitted by the Kuala Lumpur High Court without his defense being called into question, as the prosecution was unable to prove that he had knowledge, custody, and control of the drugs and imitation pistols.
