Police yet to make breakthrough in Mir Raza murder case, IO tells court

KARACHI: Police informed a court in an interim report that, despite a thorough investigation into all possible angles, they have not found any clue or made any progress in the Mir Raza Ali murder case. The investigating officer (IO), DSP Siraj-uddin-Lashari, filed the report before a judicial magistrate (East) on Monday. He submitted digital evidence, such as an Apple Watch, the deceased's mobile phone, and CCTV footage to Lahore for forensic examination.

However, the IO requested additional time to submit the final charge sheet as the forensic reports are still pending. The seven-page interim report listed 63 witnesses, with the accused column left blank. The IO concluded that despite extensive investigation, the police have not found any clue or made any breakthrough in the case.

The report detailed the investigation, from registering the FIR after the deceased went missing to handing over the case to a new team. They interviewed the deceased's parents, friends, fiancé, investors, gardener, online cab drivers, and security guards. The security guard heard a gunshot near the crime scene around midnight but found no one or vehicle.

The deceased's fiancé contacted his business partner, Ahmed Bharday, as she couldn't reach Mir. Ahmed tried contacting Mir but failed, then contacted the manager who informed him that Mir had left the branch with cash. The report stated that Mir's wallet, car keys, and watch were found in his room, while his mobile phone was seen getting into a white car by CCTV footage.

The family and friends searched for him, and the deceased was seen on CCTV walking alone, throwing his mobile phone, and walking towards a nursery.
