PM Modi to unveil projects worth ₹35,000 crore in Gujarat today

Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 7, 2026, demanding urgent assistance for the flood disaster in Bihar. He urged the Prime Minister to visit the state immediately, declare the floods a "national disaster," and provide ₹5,000 crore in financial aid, along with all necessary humanitarian support.

Yadav highlighted that 20 districts in Bihar are affected, with thousands of people trapped by the rising floodwaters, causing extensive damage to infrastructure and loss of life and property. He criticized the NDA government's response as inadequate and insufficient, comparing it to a "drop in the ocean" compared to the scale of the disaster.

Yadav alleged that the Bihar government and its Union representatives have been helpless and unable to secure a national disaster declaration or special relief funds. He called for the deployment of Army and Air Force resources, additional boats, and emergency provisions for food, water, medical supplies, and shelter. To address the root cause, Yadav proposed a long-term 'Flood Resilience Mission' focusing on river management, drainage systems, water body rejuvenation, flood forecasting, and cross-border water management treaties.

He emphasized the need for an independent review of the state's disaster preparedness and financial management.
