Padang Besar Bersatu deputy chief, 19 others quit party

Padang Besar Bersatu deputy chief Ramzi Udi and 19 additional party officials announced their immediate departure from the organization, citing a lack of confidence in its leadership at various levels. Their decision, made after careful deliberation, was influenced by internal issues within the party. Speaking at a press conference in Chuping, Perlis, Ramzi expressed their intention to join Wawasan, a new political entity led by Hamzah Zainudin, in pursuit of a more transparent political future and a focus on serving the people.

He warned that the move could "paralyze" Bersatu, especially the Padang Besar division. Furthermore, he suggested that other Bersatu branches in Kangar and Arau might follow their lead. These resignations occurred just days after Bersatu appointed Izizam Ibrahim as the new Perlis chief, a move approved by party president Muhyiddin Yassin on September 3.

Bersatu Secretary-General Azmin Ali confirmed that Izizam's appointment aimed to infuse the party with fresh ideas and strategic plans to bolster its presence in Perlis. Previously, Perlis Bersatu was headed by Abu Bakar Hamzah, who also served as the state's Menteri Besar and Kuala Perlis assemblyman; he resigned from Bersatu’s Supreme Council on July 9.
