‘Only Blinkit ambulances were here’: DU student after Delhi’s Satya Niketan PG collapse

The Supreme Court announced on Tuesday that it will deliberate on September 10 regarding the issues surrounding the collapse of the Satya Niketan building in Delhi, which resulted in the deaths of seven students. If required, the court may transfer the case from the Delhi High Court. The Supreme Court, currently addressing concerns related to unauthorized constructions, fire safety, and residential-to-commercial property conversions in violation of regulations nationwide, was requested to prioritize the incident that occurred on Sunday.

A bench of Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and R. Mahdevan stated that the concerns handled by the High Court are grave and overlap with the case already examined by the Supreme Court on a nationwide scale. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Delhi government, described the incident as "most unfortunate" and informed the court that the Delhi High Court is currently handling a petition on the matter.

Senior advocate Ajit Sinha, appointed as the amicus curiae, proposed that the court expedite its proceedings to issue pertinent directives. The Supreme Court has previously issued numerous directives to authorities concerning unauthorized constructions in residential areas, fire safety, and residential-to-commercial property conversions violating norms.
