New BAM coach Kok Siang hails mature world champion Tang Jie

KUALA LUMPUR: Chen Tang Jie's world title win has seen him mature, according to new national mixed doubles coach Teo Kok Siang. Kok Siang noticed significant improvements in Tang Jie's mindset, training attitude, and approach to the game. Previously, Kok Siang recognized Tang Jie as a player still developing, but now, he is a world champion.

The partnership between Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei, who together became Malaysia's first mixed doubles world champions in Paris last year, is now challenged by the absence of Ee Wei. As they are a new pair, Tang Jie and his new partner Cheng Su Yin must communicate and understand each other better. Kok Siang emphasizes that the pair needs time to prepare for the upcoming Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Kok Siang also hopes that Tang Jie and Su Yin won't put too much pressure on themselves during the competition but instead will enjoy their game and aim for success.
