Myanmar man arrested over compatriot’s fatal stabbing in Bang Lamung

A Myanmar worker was arrested after allegedly stabbing a fellow compatriot to death in a workers' camp in Bang Lamung, Chon Buri, on September 7, according to police reports. The incident occurred following an argument between the two men during a drinking session. Police found the victim, believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, with stab and slash wounds to his face, left side, and left arm. Despite efforts by rescue workers, including CPR and first aid, the victim died from a stab wound to the heart.

At the scene, police discovered a 41-year-old Myanmar man named Ngeun, who was found holding a knife and appeared heavily intoxicated and agitated. Police attempted to persuade him to surrender, but he refused and even challenged officers to shoot him. Eventually, officers restrained Ngeun. Police found a knife measuring approximately 30 centimeters and seized it during the arrest.

Inside the workers' accommodation, which had been converted from a shipping container, they found signs of a struggle, bloodstains, food, and two bottles of white spirits.

Initial investigations suggested that the victim had worked and lived at the camp, while Ngeun was still unassigned and had recently arrived in the area seeking employment. Witnesses stated that the two men had been drinking together before an argument erupted. The injured man was seen running from the room before collapsing near a bathroom, prompting his co-workers to try and help him and call the police.

Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances and motive behind the fatal stabbing, and have not yet accepted Ngeun's account of the incident as fact.
