My Journey To Veep God’s Will – Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President of Ghana, has urged the nation to be tolerant and obedient to the will of Allah, as he delivered a sermon at the 2026 National Maulid. The event, hosted by the National Chief Imam Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, allowed the former Vice President to reflect on the changing nature of life and power, underlining the absolute control of Allah.

Dr. Bawumia recounted his own attendance at the same Maulid in various roles over the years - he attended initially as a Running Mate, later as Vice President, and now as a Former Vice President. He also highlighted how his senior brother, President John Dramani Mahama, has also been present at the Maulid in different capacities: as Vice President, President, Former President, and now back as President.

These transitions, he explained, serve as clear evidence of Allah's sovereignty, citing Quran 3:26 which states, "Say, O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will. In Your hand is all good. Indeed, You are over all things competent." Dr. Bawumia asked Ghanaians to accept that fortunes shift daily, and that one may possess wealth one day and lose it the next. Amidst this uncertainty, he urged the people to remain patient.
