Micah Parsons' early season absence will test the Packers' pass-rush abilities

In the wake of Green Bay Packers' acquisition of defensive end Micah Parsons, the team has experienced a decline in their pass-rushing capabilities. Parsons has been absent from the team for each of the last four games he has missed due to a torn left anterior cruciate ligament. The team's new defensive coordinator, Jonathan Gannon, faces the daunting task of assembling a strong pass rush without Parsons.

The Packers' first test comes in their upcoming game against the Minnesota Vikings. Gannon expressed confidence in the team's ability to pressure the quarterback, citing their performance in training camp and preseason games. However, the Packers' struggles during Parsons' absence, including a 34-26 loss to Denver and multiple losses to Chicago, indicate the challenges they may face.

The team lacks a consistent sack producer other than Devonte Wyatt. With Rashan Gary traded to Dallas and Kingsley Enagbare signing with the Jets, the Packers are counting on rising star Lukas Van Ness, who had 8.5 sacks over his first three seasons. Other edge rushers on the roster include Brenton Cox Jr., Barryn Sorrell, Dani Dennis-Sutton, and Collin Oliver, who is currently on injured reserve.
