MBWP, GeKrafs bina ekosistem industri kreatif belia Asean

The Petaling Jaya meeting convened the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Malaysian Federal Youth Council (MBWP) and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), attended by Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Mohammad Iman Hascarya Kusumo and FINAS Executive Director Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib. President Khairul Rizam Abu Samah stated that the cooperation aims to establish a more structured Malaysia-Indonesia youth network, particularly in creative industries, technology, and entrepreneurship.

The initiative is not merely an exchange of ideas, but designed to open new economic opportunities for Malaysian youth through access to markets, investments, technology, and networks spanning regional and global levels. "Our primary goal is to create a youth creative industry ecosystem in Southeast Asia and establish a platform for Malaysia's young economy within the global creative industry," he asserted in the statement.

The partnership will focus on talent development through various programs such as practical implementation, technical courses, skill training workshops, intellectual property seminars, and digital media labs, all aimed at enhancing the skills and professional capabilities of young creative professionals. MBWP and GeKrafs will also create a bilateral business platform, exhibitions, hackathons, digital art exhibitions, and creative idea competitions to connect young creators with investors and industry players from Malaysia, Indonesia, and other Southeast Asian nations.

MBWP's Chairman of the National Youth Council Rika Amelia Rush stated that the two-way collaboration will connect MBWP's young professional network with GeKrafs' creative industry enthusiasts, broadening the exchange of knowledge, market access, and implementation of joint digital initiatives. The cooperation is also part of the Ekraf Talk, Mini Expo, and Indonesia-Malaysia Creative Economy Business Matching, which highlights opportunities in creative industries, investments, trade, technology, and digitalization.

The program also includes innovation, micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) development, and entrepreneurship. Rika expressed that the initiative is expected to serve as a continuous platform for nurturing Asean creative industry leaders capable of creating economic opportunities, penetrating international markets, and elevating Malaysia's youth talent and creativity to a global level.
