Man held for abusing traffic policeman after being caught riding without helmet

On Tuesday, the Nampally police arrested a 28-year-old man for abusing traffic police officers after being caught riding without a helmet, according to local sources. The incident occurred at Taj Island Junction on Monday, September 7. Home guard K. Ravinder of Abids Traffic Police Station, along with Woman ASI Vani Sree and home guard Vijay Kumar, were assigned to regulate traffic at the junction.

Ravinder was documented traffic violations using an official departmental camera when he noticed a two-wheeler driven by Mohd Rizwan without a helmet. The rider then turned around, approached Ravinder from the wrong side of the road, and verbally abused him while obstructing his duties. The rider's wife also joined the confrontation, abusing the police personnel and recording the incident on her mobile phone.

The couple fled the scene on the two-wheeler before being apprehended, with the vehicle being seized. Ravinder filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a case under Sections 132, 221, 352, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as well as Sections 194-D and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
