Korean farm equipment makers secure $4.98 mil. in export orders from Southeast Asia

Korean agricultural equipment manufacturers have secured $4.98 million in export contracts from Indonesia and Malaysia, opening doors to two burgeoning farm markets in Southeast Asia. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, 27 Korean firms participated in a market development mission to the two countries from August 31 to Friday. During the mission, the companies engaged in 276 consultations with 58 local buyers, leading to the finalization of the export agreements worth the stated sum.

The mission commenced with strategy seminars aimed at providing the companies with a deeper insight into the governments' policies, distribution networks, and market demand before they met with potential buyers. In Indonesia, the discussions were facilitated by Okta Prastowo Rahardjo, the director general of Agricultural Land and Irrigation Infrastructure at the Ministry of Agriculture, and Abdul Hamid, the president of the Indonesian Chili Farmers Association.

Similarly, in Malaysia, the talks were led by Badhril Hisham Abu Bakar, deputy director at the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute, and Kim Jong-hwa, the chairman of the Korea Ch.
