Johor's state government denies involvement in an alleged case of corruption and misuse of power related to housing lot applications. Exco for Housing and Local Administration Jafni Shukor stated that the RMMJ initiative is a commitment to ensure a structured, clear, and reputable approach to fulfilling the Johor people's housing agenda.

The government remains committed to achieving the target of 30,000 affordable Johor Housing Scheme (RMMJ) units by the end of the year, with more than 21,000 units already built and handed over as of now.

Earlier, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) reported that they had detained a 40-year-old exco from a Johor charity organization for allegedly asking for and receiving bribes and misusing power related to housing lot applications. The suspect allegedly committed these acts between 2016 and 2025 by demanding around RM4,000 from each of the 400 applicants, totaling approximately RM1.6 million, which he allegedly misused by withdrawing funds from the chairman's office account using fake invoices.

SPRM clarified that the detained individual is not any exco, official, or agency of Johor state government. They urged all parties to refrain from any speculation or spreading of inaccurate information, especially linking any individual or Johor state government official to the case.
