Japan’s Saki Hayashi goes off with suspected broken arm at women’s FIBA World Cup

Japan's Saki Hayashi suffered what appeared to be a broken arm following a foul during the team's playoff against Hungary at the women's FIBA World Cup on Tuesday. Despite the foul in the air from Agnes Torok, Hayashi managed to score despite the injury. However, she required immediate medical attention just over a minute into the second quarter after landing awkwardly on her right arm.

She was unable to continue playing, and the arena fell into a somber silence as she was led off the court. A blue tarp was provided to give her privacy, and fans applauded when she was removed. Hayashi had previously scored nine three-pointers in Japan's opening win against Mali on Friday. In their playoff against Hungary, Japan trailed 37-34 at halftime, with a quarterfinal against the United States scheduled for Thursday.
