I’ve invested over N8bn in my film village, need govt support — Afolayan

Nollywood filmmaker and entrepreneur Kunle Afolayan has called for government assistance after investing over N8 billion of his personal funds into his film village, known as KAP Village. The project has been plagued by a lack of electricity, forcing Afolayan to rely on diesel as a power source, which he now finds unsustainable due to rising costs.

During an interview with former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun on the Nidacity podcast, Afolayan revealed that he had spent more than N8 billion on the resort and had allocated N200 million for green energy projects, but these efforts have not been sufficient to power the entire facility. The filmmaker also noted that other businesses receiving government grants have received far less support compared to his investment.

Additionally, Afolayan explained that he constructed 100 rooms at KAP Village to accommodate the cast and crew of his movie Anikulapo, who had to sleep in personal belongings or in other people's houses during production.
