Iran's president says Teheran to resist until 'aggressors are regretful'

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian declared on Tuesday that Tehran will continue its resistance with full strength until aggressors express regret and defend its rights. The Islamic Republic has historically opposed war and emphasized safeguarding people's interests and regional stability. Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran will remain resolute in its defense, serving as a guardian of people's rights, similar to its past actions against aggression.

Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz declined at the beginning of the week following Iran's threat of retaliation against any US attacks. In the week's first day, seven commodity vessels passed through the strategic waterway, compared to eight the previous day, according to Kpler data. Iran had warned that vital energy infrastructure throughout the Gulf, including US oil and gas interests, could be targeted.

Goldman Sachs raised its predictions for crude oil prices in December 2026 and 2027, anticipating ongoing shipping disruptions in the Middle East into the following year. However, a greater number of vessels sailed through the Bab el-Mandeb strait, another crucial pathway for commodities. On Monday, 29 vessels transited the Bab el-Mandeb, up from 17 the prior day.

Some ships might be sailing through the two straits with transponders disabled, a factor not included in these counts.
