Iran war latest: GCC chief condemns 'malicious' Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

Qatar has strongly condemned the Houthi attacks on civilian and economic targets in Saudi Arabia, causing injuries to civilians including women and children. The attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea further threaten the security and freedom of international maritime navigation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that these acts are a despicable act of aggression, disregarding civilian lives, and violating Saudi Arabia's sovereignty, international law, and the rules of the Gulf region.

The ministry urged the global community to uphold its responsibilities and take a firm stance against these violations, adhering to Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2722. It also reaffirmed the right to freedom of navigation through international waters under international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The State of Qatar stands in full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and supports all legitimate measures to protect its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and interests. The ministry prayed for the injured to recover swiftly and expressed hope for the well-being of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people.
