In a development that has heightened tensions in the Middle East, the United States has targeted and destroyed five Iranian oil tankers. Tim Hawkins, spokesperson for the US military's Regional Command in the Middle East, acknowledged that the US military no longer possesses the malfunctioning drone, the Anduril Dive-LD. The drone, which malfunctioned during an operation over a day ago, was found to be an older model with no sensitive data collection capabilities and no secret sonar or radar equipment.

The US maintains that the drone was "in standard equipment", therefore no further concern is necessary.

Meanwhile, the British government's sanctions on goods from Israeli settlements in the West Bank could prompt Israel to retaliate. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar warned that if Britain takes action against Israel, Israel will retaliate against Britain. Israeli President Isaac Herzog expressed disappointment with London's actions, stating it was a "serious misunderstanding" and would position Britain "on the wrong side of history".

With the upcoming Knesset elections in October, Herzog also criticized the decision as a "gross interference in the democratic elections of a sovereign nation".

The US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, criticized these sanctions for unfairly targeting the Jewish people. Should the British government enforce these measures, Huckabee stated that consequences or retaliatory actions from the US are possible.
