India, China hold senior military-level talks

On September 6 and 7, India and China engaged in high-level military commander-level flag meetings, marking their first such discussions in Arunachal Pradesh, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. The first session occurred at Vacha on the Indian side, while the second took place at Damai on the Chinese side. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal revealed that these meetings followed agreements reached in August 2025 and August 2026, as well as subsequent consultations and coordination at working mechanisms for consultation and coordination (WMCC).

The senior military commanders, including Lt Gen Girish Kalia leading the Indian side, discussed broader issues that transcend local border transgressions. This development comes amid ongoing diplomatic and military engagements between the two nations, including the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) meetings in Beijing and New Delhi in May and August 2026, respectively.
