In Uba Sani, Gani Fawehinmi Lives On, Says Daughter

Basirat Fawehinmi Biobaku, daughter of the late pro-democracy and human rights activist Chief Gani Fawehinmi, has lauded Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his dedication to uplifting the lives of the people. In an interview, Biobaku highlighted Sani's adherence to his father's teachings, particularly his warning against neglecting the common citizens when in a position of authority.

Recalling her father's advice over three decades ago, Biobaku noted that Sani was urged to always remember and serve the masses whenever given the chance. The governor, Biobaku revealed, lived with their family in Lagos for four years, where they enjoyed a peaceful coexistence. Daily, Sani shared breakfast with her father and accompanied him to their office.

Biobaku praised Sani's administration for its significant contributions to the education sector, including constructing schools and classrooms, and reducing the number of out-of-school children by providing free education from primary to secondary levels. She also commended his expansion of healthcare access through the establishment of Primary Healthcare Centres in all 255 wards of Kaduna State.

Biobaku further highlighted the governor's infrastructural developments and rural transformation initiatives, which have improved transportation, facilitated agricultural produce movement, reduced travel time, and stimulated economic activities. Additionally, she praised Sani's efforts to promote peace and unity between northern and southern parts of Kaduna State, emphasizing that without peace, development cannot occur.

Biobaku also commended Sani's choice of a Christian from Southern Kaduna as his running mate in the 2027 elections, viewing it as a testament to his commitment to inclusiveness and unity. She concluded by expressing her mother's pride in Sani, who used to cook for Sani when they lived together.
