A 2006 email thread surfaced by Internal Tech Emails shows Google senior VP Alan Eustace asking Steve Jobs for permission before hiring former Apple executive Jean-Marie Hullot in Paris. Jobs asked what Hullot would build, warning Google would have a problem if it involved cell phone handsets.
