'I now depend entirely on Allah,' says missing fireman's wife

KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian-born Hani Othman, wife of Port Klang Fire and Rescue Station operations officer Mohd Fakhrul Munir Mohd Isa, has expressed her total reliance on Allah following his reported disappearance. Almost two weeks after torrential rains and landslides hit the Nepal-Tibet border region on August 26, Hani is currently in Kathmandu, Nepal, to search for her husband.

She has been maintaining close contact with local authorities, Malaysian diplomatic representatives, and other contacts to locate her husband. Hani stated that she is in Kathmandu and has gathered information, as well as communicated with the embassy in Nepal, the Nepal police, the Foreign Ministry, friends in Nepal, and local residents.

Despite the assistance received, she remains wholly dependent on Allah for guidance and resolution. Hani expressed her gratitude for the support of local friends, who have provided her with accommodation in Kathmandu. The exact location of the incident remains unknown, as does the last known whereabouts of her husband and the team.

Hani also mentioned that she has been distributing essential supplies to disaster victims personally. Mohd Fakhrul Munir, in his 40s and known affectionately as Loe, was reported missing while participating in a climbing expedition following the severe flooding in Nepal. Deputy director Mohd Sani Harul, also from Malaysia's Fire and Rescue Department, was reported missing on the same expedition. A total of 55 Malaysians remain uncontactable following the disaster.
