I just went hands-on with the viral iKarios AI pendant — and I'm still not completely sure what it's for

I recently had the opportunity to try out the viral iKarios AI pendant at the IFA 2026 show, but I must admit, I'm still uncertain about its true purpose. This wearable device claims to be a "second memory" that captures the most significant moments of your life. Positioned as both a pendant and a stationary desktop companion, the iKarios leaves me questioning its functionality.

While the device's adorable animated face and the ability to whisper personal thoughts to it may appeal to some, I find the AI-generated interpretations of daily routines and adventures to be less than appealing. The onboard camera, which captures "meaningful memories," seems more intrusive than necessary. When not worn, the iKarios is designed to sit on a docking station for functions such as setting reminders, adding events to a calendar, and reviewing past event summaries.

However, it's essential to note that the iKarios is still far from becoming a purchasable product, and the company behind it has recently secured substantial investor funding. The design is still in the early stages, so it's likely that the final product will look quite different from the concept I experienced at IFA.
