Huawei FreeBuds 7 Launch With Major Noise Cancellation Upgrades

Huawei unveiled the FreeBuds 7 and the Mate XT 2 during its HarmonyOS 7 launch event. The earbuds come with a higher price tag of roughly $140. The major highlight of the FreeBuds 7 is their enhanced noise cancellation. Powered by Huawei's third-generation audio AI chip, the earbuds deliver 100% more computing power than the previous version.

This chip can sample ambient noise up to 400,000 times per second, ensuring rapid response to environmental changes. The noise processing latency has been cut down to just 8 microseconds. Huawei asserts that these upgrades result in an average noise reduction depth 230% better than the earlier model, with a noise cancellation bandwidth that is 275% wider.

The FreeBuds 7 feature a lighter semi-in-ear design. Each earbud weighs only 4.3 grams, and Huawei has shifted the center of gravity 17% inward for better weight distribution. The earbuds come in Sunlight Orange, Midsummer Purple, Moonlight White, and Starry Black. The charging case has also been redesigned, being 25% smaller and 17% lighter than its predecessor.

Huawei has also introduced a novel AI perception noise reduction algorithm in the FreeBuds 7. The algorithm analyzes various factors such as the surroundings, the shape of the user's ears, and the position of the earbuds over 10,000 times per second. Its convergence speed is 750% faster, allowing for quicker adjustments to changing conditions.

Moreover, the FreeBuds 7 offer improved call noise reduction. They support 100dB two-way silent calls, which help keep voices clear even amidst noisy surroundings. The earbuds are priced at 999 yuan, or approximately $140, and were introduced alongside Huawei's new tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT 2, and HarmonyOS 7.
