‘Historic achievement for 21st-century India’: PM Modi inaugurates Rs 35,000 crore development projects in Vadodara

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects valued at over ₹35,000 crore in Vadodara, Gujarat. The event marked the completion of the 2,800-kilometer Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), a project Modi hailed as a "historic achievement for 21st-century India." The corridor, spanning 326 route kilometers, includes key sections from New Sanand to New JNPT, which will enhance connectivity between industrial centers and ports, reduce logistics costs, and alleviate congestion in Mumbai's railway network.

Modi also inaugurated the Jobat-Tanda Road new rail line, connecting remote and tribal areas of Alirajpur to the national rail network. The prime minister flagged off freight train services from three newly completed WDFC sections and a new passenger train service between Tanda Road and Vadodara (Pratapnagar).

The WDFC project, first initiated in 2004, took over a decade to complete. Modi acknowledged the country's evolving work culture over the past 12 years, attributing the corridor's successful completion to this progress. He also laid the foundation stones for three railway projects totaling 329 kilometers and three National Highway projects worth around ₹1,780 crore.

Additionally, Modi inaugurated various Gujarat government projects and dedicated the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana housing developments and a water-supply project in eastern Vadodara.
