Govt denies Adamu use of public venue for Agro Empowerment Programme in Nasarawa North

The second phase of the agro-empowerment initiative spearheaded by the Social Democratic Party's Nasarawa State governorship candidate, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, faced an alleged denial of access to a public venue in Akwanga. The programme, initially set to unfold across Akwanga, Nassarawa Eggon and Wamba Local Government Areas, was instead conducted at the National Headquarters of the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC).

The organisers accused government officials of politically motivated obstruction, claiming they were barred entry without sufficient reason. They asserted that this impromptu shift to the ERCC premises was a direct consequence of the denied access. Adamu's campaign organization reported the event's smooth progression once the ERCC staff granted them access.

The agro-empowerment program aimed to assist farmers by equipping them with necessary tools and resources to enhance agricultural output and decrease dependence on conventional farming techniques. Beneficiaries from the three local government areas were provided with tractors, rice milling machines, solar-powered water pumping machines, tricycle trucks, herbicides, NPK and urea fertilizers, hand tools, and financial assistance.

The organizers also mentioned that the denied public facility sparked discontent among residents and members of the Christian community. They expressed gratitude to the ERCC leadership for accommodating the event at their location. Adamu's campaign group affirmed that the agro-empowerment initiative would continue as part of his planned activities to engage with farmers in Nasarawa State, leading up to the 2027 governorship election.
