FSU vs. SMU will kick off at 9:15 after being delayed due to power outage

Florida State's opening ACC game against SMU will commence at 9:15 p.m. ET on ESPN following a power outage that delayed kickoff. The contest was set for 7:30 p.m. ET but was postponed due to a transformer blowing on the west side of the Doak Campbell Stadium, causing power outages and affecting the press box. Although the game was minutes away from starting, it was called off for nearly two hours as stadium officials attempted to restore power.

Both teams, who were already on the field, had to return to their locker rooms. Despite the power restoration, several features, including no coach-to-player communication on headsets, no tablets on the sideline, no PA system, and no scoreboard, will be absent during the match. Florida State will kick off their season against SMU, with the Seminoles entering the contest at 1-0 after a win over New Mexico State.

Quarterback Ashton Daniels led the team with 232 passing yards and two touchdowns, while running back Samuel Singleton Jr. was ACC Receiver of the Week with 164 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. Quindarrius Jones made his first career interception on the opening drive. This will be the first matchup between the teams at Doak Campbell Stadium.

For FSU, wide receiver Duce Robinson, a preseason All-American, will be key, leading the ACC in receiving yards and ranked nationally in yardage per reception.
