From the twisted minds of M. Night Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks comes the teaser for Remain

In an unexpected partnership, M. Night Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks, two distinct figures in show business, are teaming up for a new film titled Remain. Their collaboration echoes that of James Patterson and Mr. Beast, another unlikely duo, but with Sparks and Shyamalan, the results are set to hit theaters. The film is adapted from Sparks' 2025 novel and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, who portrays architect Tate Gordon.

After the untimely death of his sister, Gordon embarks on a journey to Cape Cod to design a summer home for his best friend, who is grappling with depression.

While there, Gordon encounters Wren, a mysterious young woman played by Phoebe Dynevor. Sparks and Shyamalan have been planning this cinematic union for decades. Sparks had approached Shyamalan about the screenplay for The Notebook, but the young filmmaker was preoccupied with his groundbreaking thriller, The Sixth Sense. Sparks expresses understanding and forgiveness towards Shyamalan, acknowledging the extraordinary talent and timing he possessed.

When they met again, they had a condition: each would bring an original story that would work for both their respective genres. The result is Remain, a unique blend of Sparks' storytelling and Shyamalan's signature dark magic. Sparks emphasized that it is not a direct adaptation or a novelization but a joint creation, with Shyamalan working in his medium and Sparks working in his. The film is set to premiere on February 5, 2027.
