From Infrastructure to Skills, UP Charts Roadmap to Become Global Textile Hub

Lucknow, September 8 - Uttar Pradesh is positioning itself as a leading state in the textile industry, with large-scale investments being made to solidify its position. Former Rajya Sabha member and industrialist Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy praised the favorable environment for investment in the state at the UP Textile Conclave-2026.

He attributed the rapid development to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership, highlighting the improved industrial environment and the sense of discipline, control, and security that attracts industrialists. Reddy emphasized that Uttar Pradesh's rich resources and strong political and administrative leadership instill confidence in investors, making it an attractive destination for business expansion.

The textile industry centers and parks under development in multiple locations around Lucknow and across the state mark a significant first step towards this vision. Rami Reddy also acknowledged the government's assurances of a stable environment, better infrastructure, and affordable essential services as crucial for the industry's growth.

Industry leaders, such as Ashwin Chandran, Chairman and Managing Director of Precot Limited and Vice President of the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), echoed similar sentiments, stating that the Indian textile and apparel sector is undergoing a transformative phase. To compete globally, India needs to focus on quality, technology, sustainability, productivity, and timely supply.

Uttar Pradesh, with its young workforce, strong MSME base, textile and apparel clusters, and rich tradition of handloom and handicrafts, is well-positioned to play a major role in technical textiles, sustainable products, and high-value home textiles. CITI is committed to working with the Uttar Pradesh government to develop a skilled workforce aligned with future industry requirements.
