Former Pakistan Head Coach Claims PCB Still Owes Him Thousands of Dollars

Former Pakistan Test coach Jason Gillespie has alleged that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) owes him a substantial sum of money. Gillespie also expressed his grievances against former selector Aqib Javed, who he claims undermined his authority during his time with the team. In an interview with The Telegraph, Gillespie revealed that his eight-month tenure as Pakistan’s Test coach left him mentally exhausted and uncertain about his future in coaching.

He was appointed as coach in April 2024 but resigned in December of the same year. Gillespie attributed his departure to the gradual erosion of his decision-making powers, which he linked to Javed becoming head of the selection committee. "The PCB still owes me thousands of dollars," Gillespie stated, emphasizing that he was never willing to compromise his integrity for the sake of his position or salary.

He further accused Javed of interference in his work, supported by the PCB leadership. Gillespie claimed that behind-the-scenes efforts were made to undermine and replace him during his tenure. He warned that he might pursue legal action if Javed continued to make disparaging remarks about him. Gillespie concluded by advising current Pakistan coach Mike Hesson to trust his instincts and resist becoming a "yes man."

He reiterated that Pakistan cricket requires strong leadership, empowered coaches, and enhanced stability to revitalize the team.
