Former NFL star Edgerrin James says son Jizzle has a substance abuse issue; asks for love, support

Charlotte, N.C. (AP) — Former NFL running back Edgerrin James posted a message on Instagram, sharing concern for his son Jizzle James, a college basketball player, who is reportedly struggling with a substance abuse issue.

According to James, his son is not in the right state of mind currently. He advised those who encounter Jizzle to show him love, but refrain from providing him with money, valuables, or any material items. James emphasized that aiding the problem by giving such items is counterproductive and urged patience instead.

Jizzle has spent the past three seasons at Cincinnati before transferring to Charlotte earlier this offseason following the departure of head coach Wes Miller. He was later brought back to the program mid-season. Although he initially played for the Bearcats, he was dismissed last summer before returning to the roster. During the 2022 season, Jizzle played in 23 games and averaged 10.9 points and 2.1 assists per game for the Bearcats.
